If I Were Mayor ATL

Attention all Young Leaders, Future Politicians, Future Community Organizers, and any other civic minded young people.  This year we elect the next mayor of Atlanta and even though you are not old enough to vote we want to hear your voice.  Crime Out is launching its If I Were Mayor campaign.  We know that young people are on the pulse of issues in their communities.  Our mayoral candidates want to hear your perspectives of the issues that will dominate their term as mayor.

What efforts can be made to expand the green space?

What can we do locally about the air quality in Atlanta?

How are we maintaining Public Safety despite layoffs and furloughs?

What can be done about communities in need?

What about the increasing gang warfare?

What is the condition of our schools?

What are your thoughts?  What are your solutions?

Enter for your chance to become Atlanta's first Youth Mayor.  The Youth Mayor will earn a year- long mentorship with the future mayor of Atlanta, a $1000 scholarship, a Flip Mino HD Camera, and a prize bag filled with gift cards and other prizes from our sponsors.

This contest is open to all City of Atlanta residents ages 12-18.  To participate contestants need to create a 2-5 minute video outlining their platform for mayor. Their video should begin with their full name, contact information, and the phrase: "If I were Mayor of Atlanta..." Once the video is completed contestants will upload it to ifiweremayoratl.org. by October, 15 2009.  Finalists will then be selected to participate in a live debate on October 23,2009, which will determine the winner and Youth Mayor of Atlanta.
